Howdy and welcome to the Texas LEGO® Users Group website, where LEGO® fans across Texas can find information, share ideas, and communicate with each other.
Who We Are:
We are adult fans of LEGO® (AFOLs) that have come together because of our interests and obsessions with “the brick”. We share our ideas and experiences, we get togther to build and play, and we buy/sell/trade bricks with each other. TEXLUG is one of many LUGs (LEGO® User Groups) that exist around the world. Take a look at the LUGNET™ LUG map for more details.
What We Do:
Our primary functions are meetings, public display events, and other gatherings. We typically have several major public display events per year and smaller, more private, local gatherings in between. As of 2011, we have also started hosting an annual Lego Conference/Expo called Brick Fiesta.
If you’re interested in joining in the fun, please check our upcoming events, our forum and email list, or contact us directly. Please note that though children are welcome at our events, anyone 17 or younger must be accompanied by a legal guardian at all times.
Sub (Local) Groups:
As we all know, Texas is a vast state, we therefore have several local TexLUG groups. Please see the front page and look for “TexLUG Links” on the right side column. Currently, only the San Antonio chapter has a seperate website. Houston, Austin, and D/FW have active AFOL communities, but no formal sites yet (local news and discussions are usually communicated via the main email list).
There is also a train club in Texas – NETLTC (North East Texas LEGO® Train Club). Although they are separate from TexLUG, we are all in contact with each other and share news and information. Visit their site for more details.
Contact:
For more information, details, or to join our email list, please use our Contact page.
Membership:
Joining TexLUG is easy. Contact us and we’ll show you how to sign up to TexLUG’s email list. We use the email list to discuss details about meetings, events, etc.
If you join the list, please introduce yourself to the group and let us know a little about yourself. Stay tuned for meeting annoucements and make an effort to attend our gatherings and events. Bring your own LEGO® creations and share with the group. It’s good fun!
Please read this post on our discussion forum for details and info about TexLUG membership.
History:
The loosely formed TexLUG group has been meeting several times a year since 2001. Organized gatherings of AFOLs in Texas have been taking place since about 1999. We have done simple get-togethers just for fun, events involving public displays, and special events interacting with the LEGO® Company.
To get an understanding and feel for what the group is about, just take a look at our past meetings.
Best regards,
TJ Avery and Glen Wadleigh
