Big Houston Build Event – June 12-14

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

LEGO will hold a master model build event June 12-14 at the Baybrook LEGO store. This event will be just like the big Yoda build last year during the grand opening of the store.

Everyone is invited to come out and help. The LEGO master model builder will need assistance with the build. Please see this post on our discussion forum for more details about the build.

Also, we’ll have our monthly TexLUG dinner that Saturday night (June 13). Please see this post on our discussion forum for more details about the dinner.

Monthly Houston Meet-up at the LEGO Store

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Starting this month (July), we’ll meet up at the Baybrook LEGO Store on the 2nd Saturday of every month. The purpose of the meet-up will be to change out the Window on the Community display case. Each monthly display will be created by one or more TexLUG members.

More info and details can be found on our discussion forum. Look for the sticky post within the Houston chapter category. Discussions are held there to determine the time of the meet-up and who is building for the upcoming display.

Yoda Build & LEGO® Store Grand Opening

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

This past weekend was the grand opening of the new LEGO® store in Baybrook Mall (Friendswood, TX).

TexLUG was invited out to help with the giant build, and we had a terrific group of folks show up. All went very well. By late afternoon, Sunday, Yoda was finally done.

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Just a quick reminder for all you TexLUG Blog readers out there – the Baybrook LEGO Store Grand Opening festivities begin on Friday at 10 am.  If you are volunteering first thing in the morning then you should be at the event site at 9 am for introductions and set-up.

We will be replacing the Window into the Community display on Saturday night at 9 pm, after store hours.  If you cannot be there but would like to have your contribution included, be sure to hand your vignette off to someone who will be.

More LEGO Store Details

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

We’ve been given a few more details concerning the opening of the new Baybrook LEGO store.

The store will be having a ‘soft opening’ (approx. June 5th – date subject to change) before the Grand Opening.  There will be no real celebration, but TexLUG has been invited to fill the community window with a display on one of the preceding days (TBD).

The Grand Opening will be from June 20th through the 22nd and will involve a giant Yoda build.  While TexLUG will not be putting on a display of our own, we have been invited to volunteer to help with the giant build and to fill the community window with a new display (replacing the one from the soft opening).

In the immediate future there will be a build party in Houston (date TBD) to help build some of the store displays (sets).  If you would like to be involved in this or any of the festivities please join the email list and introduce yourself.

LEGO Store In Texas

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Great news!  A LEGO Store is opening up in Texas!

Specifically at Baybrook Mall in Houston.  We’ve been asked to be involved in the grand opening in some fashion (details will be posted when they are made available).  Several TexLUG ‘regulars’ already plan to attend the grand opening, so if you’re interested in meeting the rest of the group, this would be a great opportunity.

There will also be a ‘Window on the Community’ in the store.  For those unaware, the WotC is a small, locked plastic box with a transparent face that LEGO allows local clubs to fill with MOCs and other various things.  The WotC at other stores have some pretty tight dimensions, especially being more tall than wide, so join the email discussion to help plan future layouts.
